INSPIRATION.
I love searching out experts in their creative field to get inspired from them and their innovation and creativity.
Yesterday I was up early and on the train to London to visit the Chelsea Flower Show in the grounds of the Royal Chelsea Hospital to get some inspiration from some of the world's best garden designers.
Colour.
After battling with the crowds along Main Avenue to view the spectacular Show Gardens, purple and white was definitely a colour theme for 2015, often spotted with highlights of bright orange.
These beautiful alliums were featured in many of the gardens and they are so dynamic as well as adding a beautiful flash of colour. When they are lined up (as they were in this photo) they look like a little army of beautiful blooms with their straight stems and huge round flower heads.
Cakes made out of flowers?
Whilst wandering around the (3 acre!) Grand Pavilion I noticed these... wedding cakes made out of flowers!
Such a riot of colour and so beautiful covered in a mixture of wood and tiny flowers I thought they would make a great centre piece to a table at an event or wedding.
I am (obviously) a huge fan of cake, but perhaps if you were organising a smaller wedding and still wanted a big cake but didnt want to still be eating cake in 6 months down the line (or throwing cake away!!) then this might be for you!
Food and drink...
It would obviously be crazy to comment on my day without mentioning the food!
Apparently during the 2014 show 13,880 sandwiches, bloomers and baguettes were sold along with 3,881 salads, 27,019 cakes, pastries and cookies and 2,309 seafood platters, as well as 9,434 glasses of champagne and 62,426 hot drinks! Thats a lot of food and drink!
I chose my lunch based on the delicious smell coming from the stall and I wasn't disappointed with my freshly cooked chicken tikka bap served with fresh rocket. Of course nothing tastes too bad when it is washed down with a glass or too of fizz!
My favourite...
Chelsea's 'Best in Show' garden was designed by Dan Pearson and in my opinion, really deserved that title. 3 weeks ago his plot was just a (large) triangle of grass but by yesterday it had been totally transformed into a little area of Chatsworth. It honestly looked like it had always been there, complete with huge boulders, trout stream, wild flower meadow and large trees. The level of detail he achieved from the moss on the rocks and the weeds by the river finished this garden off so that from any angle the garden was spectacular.
It was exceptional and extraordinary and for me an inspiration as to what can be achieved.
This wild little Artisan garden was also my surprise favourite of the day. The bright red of poppies mixed in amongst the other beauitful wild flowers, all set to a backdrop of a ramsackle brick building.
I just love the colour and random nature of the garden and I am sucker for old brick structures!
Completely different to the huge Chatsworth garden the designers Jodie Fedorko and Martin Anderson really captured the beauty in the wild in the this garden.
